Hong Kong’s finance chief attends IMF and World Bank meetings in US, updates different sectors on latest developments in the HKSAR

HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 20 October 2025 – Paul Chan, Financial Secretary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), visited the United States last week (October 14-17) to attend Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank Group (WBG). Mr Chan also updated government officials from various countries, as well as key financial and economic figures in New York and Washington, DC, on the latest developments and business environment in Hong Kong.

On Friday (October 17), Mr Chan attended the plenary session of the Annual Meetings of IMF and WBG. He also joined an in-conversation session organised by the Institute of International Finance, where he shared insights on the current state of Hong Kong’s economy, its strategy of development as a financial centre, opportunities in innovation and technology—particularly artificial intelligence—the development of digital assets, and the building of a patient capital ecosystem.

Mr Chan highlighted Hong Kong’s unique advantages under the “one country, two systems” arrangement, including free flow of capital, a freely convertible currency pegged to the US dollar, a highly internationalised market, and close alignment with international best practices.

Despite rising global economic uncertainties in recent months, Hong Kong has continued to see capital inflows, reflecting international investors’ confidence in the city’s investment environment and opportunities, Mr Chan said.

Delivering a keynote speech at a business luncheon co-hosted by the US-China Business Council and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Washington (Washington ETO), he stressed that the “one country, two systems” arrangement is a significant advantage for Hong Kong and that the Chinese government has made it clear that this good system will be upheld in the long run. For example, Hong Kong continues to practise the common law system, and its judiciary exercises judicial power independently. The rule of law in Hong Kong remains highly ranked internationally. In terms of financial innovation, Hong Kong is also prudently exploring areas such as digital assets.

On his arrival in Washington, DC (October 16), Mr Chan held meetings with senior officials of the IMF and the WBG.

He informed the IMF team responsible for conducting the Article IV Consultation (a regular economic assessment of members’ economies) on Hong Kong, about the city’s current economic and fiscal conditions, as well as its development directions.

During a roundtable dinner hosted by the Washington ETO, Mr Chan briefed representatives from major US business chambers, think tanks and consultancy firms etc. on Hong Kong’s business environment and latest developments. He also engaged in discussions on the future of Hong Kong–US economic and trade relations.

Before travelling to Washington, DC, Mr Chan attended a luncheon jointly hosted by the National Committee on United States–China Relations (NCUSCR) and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York (October 15).

Despite the recent signs of escalating trade tensions, the Financial Secretary said Hong Kong will firmly uphold its status as a free port and continue to implement free, open and predictable trade policies and practices.

Mr Chan also joined a roundtable discussion with key US funds and asset management representatives, during which he highlighted opportunities in the financial market, including IPOs and follow-on fund raising, fixed income and currency markets, private equity, asset and wealth management, green finance, stablecoins and digital assets.

As a “super connector” and “super value-adder” between the Chinese Mainland and the world, Hong Kong will continue to offer attractive investment opportunities for investors from the US and around the globe, he said.

Mr Chan kicked off his visit (October 14) by joining around 300 guests at the annual Gala Dinner of the NCUSCR. During the event, he met with the NCUSCR Chair and former US Trade Representative, Ambassador Charlene Barshefsky to exchange views on various topics, including current China-US economic and trade relations.

Primech Holdings Signs Strategic MOU with GAIB to Unlock First-of-its-kind ARaaS Revenue Models Through Tokenization

SINGAPORE – Media OutReach Newswire – 16 October 2025 – Primech Holdings Ltd. (“Primech” or the “Company”), a leader in AI-powered hygienic robotics, today announced the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with GAIB, the economic layer for AI infrastructure. The partnership establishes a framework to tokenize Primech’s HYTRON autonomous cleaning robots and enable next-generation AI Robotics-as-a-Service (ARaaS) business models that open new capital pathways and expand profitability potential.

Under the MOU, GAIB will develop comprehensive protocols to tokenize HYTRON as digital assets, enabling fractional ownership and creating liquid secondary markets for robot investments. The collaboration introduces revolutionary capital solutions by leveraging tokenized assets as collateral for onchain credit facilities, while establishing next-generation ARaaS frameworks that enable automated usage-based payments and continuous revenue generation from robot operations. This tokenization approach transforms traditional robot sales into recurring revenue streams while providing global investors access to AI robotics investments through crypto markets.

The strategic collaboration directly addresses Primech’s capital deployment constraints by unlocking rapid scaling of HYTRON without conventional financing limitations. Asset tokenization creates liquidity premiums for previously illiquid physical equipment, expanding the potential investor base from individual purchasers to thousands of token holders per robotic unit. The blockchain-based infrastructure facilitates international market expansion across multiple networks, enabling Primech to secure global financing and implement transparent, automated payment systems that enhance operational efficiency and reduce transaction costs.

“The partnership with GAIB represents a fundamental breakthrough in realizing the full profit potential of our HYTRON technology,” said Ken Ho, Chairman and CEO of Primech Holdings. “By tokenizing our AI robots, we’re transforming how the robotics industry accesses capital and generates value. Instead of being bounded by traditional financing models, we can now offer fractional robotic ownership to global investors while creating continuous ARaaS revenue streams that multiply the profitability of each HYTRON unit. This alliance positions us to unlock the true economic potential of autonomous hygiene solutions while pioneering new business frameworks that will define the future of AI robotics commercialization.”

Health is a Political Choice: Global Leaders Call for Shared Responsibility at the World Health Summit, Gallup and GPMB Release Landmark Reports on Emotional Wellbeing and Pandemic Preparedness

BERLIN, GERMANY – Newsaktuell – 14 October 2025 – Global leaders reaffirmed their commitment to health as a political priority and a cornerstone of peace and resilience on day 2 of the World Health Summit, the leading platform for global health. Against the backdrop of geopolitical crises, global leaders called for shared responsibility in shaping a healthier, more resilient world on the World Health Summit stage.

World Health Summit 2025

Nina Warken, German Federal Health Minister, emphasized: “Germany is and remains a reliable and committed partner of the World Health Summit and also of WHO. In view of the current challenges, it is more important than ever to engage in constructive dialogue and work together to strengthen global health. The World Health Summit offers a good opportunity to deepen cooperation with international partners. Beyond that, we are also committed to consolidating international cooperation and strengthening institutions such as WHO. Germany will live up to its leadership in global health and international cooperation. Only in this way can we overcome global health challenges.“

“Taking political responsibility for health means choosing to cooperate, to invest, and to act before the next crisis,” stressed Hadja Lahbib, Commissioner for Preparedness and Crisis Management and Commissioner for Equality. “The European Union has made that choice – by strengthening its preparedness and response capacities, and by driving global solidarity through the new Global Health Resilience Initiative. In a world of fragmentation, the EU stands for cooperation, trust in science, and shared responsibility – because our health, our security, and our future depend on it.”

Leaders also underscored that health security, sustainable financing, and global solidarity must remain central to building a stable and equitable future.

“In our divided and turbulent world, investing in public health has never been more essential, both as the foundation of stable and secure societies, and as a bridge to peace between communities and nations,” said Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO Director-General. “We call on all countries and partners to focus on what matters most: the people we serve, and to harness the power of science, partnership and innovation to build a healthier, safer and fairer future.”

New Gallup Report Revealed at World Health Summit: Peace, Health and Emotional Wellbeing Rise and Fall Together

Peace, health and emotional wellbeing rise and fall together, according to Gallup’s inaugural State of the World’s Emotional Health report, launched in partnership with the World Health Summit. Drawing on 145,000 interviews across 144 countries and areas in 2024, Gallup finds nearly four in ten adults worldwide reported experiencing a lot of worry or stress the previous day – hundreds of millions more than a decade ago. In 2024, 39% of adults worldwide reported feeling worried the previous day, and 37% said they felt stressed. Reports of sadness (26%), anger (22%) and physical pain (32%) remain widespread. All are higher than they were a decade ago. The report pairs Gallup’s World Poll data with the Institute for Economics & Peace’s Global Peace Index and Positive Peace Index to show how people’s emotional lives intertwine with stability and health.

“Our work with the World Health Summit brings clarity to a simple truth: emotional wellbeing and peace are not separate pursuits. When one fails, the other follows. In less peaceful countries, people are far more likely to report sadness and anger, even after accounting for income differences,” states Gallup CEO, Jon Clifton. Positive emotions such as laughter, enjoyment, and respect are less common in less peaceful societies and depend more on GDP. This is not the case for negative emotions, which remain strongly tied to fragile peace — suggesting that while peace reduces distress, it does not deliver a positive emotional dividend above and beyond GDP per capita.

Reflecting on the findings, WHS CEO Carsten Schicker underscored the importance of this partnership: “Gallup’s new data confirm what we at the World Health Summit see every day: Peace, health and emotional wellbeing are inseparable. Emotional distress at a societal level is not just an individual burden; it is a warning sign for societal fragility, and a call to collective action. By working together across sectors, we can turn evidence into solutions that strengthen resilience and stability worldwide. That is why the World Health Summit is proud to partner with Gallup: Together, we bring health to the center of the global agenda.”

New Global Report Shows: Global Health Security Hangs in the Balance in a Volatile and Uncertain World

A new global report launched today at WHS 2025 outlines preparedness priorities to protect people worldwide from future pandemics and other health crises. The new Global Preparedness Monitoring Board (GPMB) 2025 report calls for scaled up investment in primary health care, real-time risk assessment, and international cooperation to ensure local and global communities are ready to prevent and respond to the next pandemic.

“In our increasingly volatile and uncertain world, real preparedness for pandemics and other health emergencies must be anchored in well-functioning and well financed primary health care systems,” said Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, GPMB Co-Chair and former President of Croatia. “Robust primary health systems reach deep into communities, providing essential health services in peacetime and building the deep trust that is fundamental to an effective health response when crises strike.”

The GPMB, established in 2018 following the West Africa Ebola epidemic, monitors the state of the world’s preparedness for pandemics and other health crises. It is an initiative supported by the World Health Organization and the World Bank.

Reflecting on the findings of the GPMB report, World Health Summit President Axel R. Pries emphasizes: “To tackle emerging threats like pandemics and the climate crisis, we need resilient, inclusive systems, innovative financing, and genuine partnerships that empower local leadership. This requires a new approach to care – strengthening primary health care, engaging communities more closely, and ensuring a protected health workforce; and stronger cooperation – built on solidarity, equity, and the fair sharing of data, samples, and benefits. The World Health Summit helps drive this change by fostering collaboration and keeping health high on the international agenda.”

 About the World Health Summit

The World Health Summit is the leading platform for global health. It brings together stakeholders from politics, science, the private sector, and civil society to set the agenda for a healthier future. Founded in 2009, the WHS is held every October in Berlin and is organized by the WHS Foundation GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.

Expo 2025 Osaka draws to a close today: Koelnmesse welcomed three million visitors to the award-winning German Pavilion

·         German Pavilion “Wa! Germany” closes after 184 days with over three million visitors

·         Koelnmesse, as the organisation responsible for operations, reports resounding success

COLOGNE, GERMANY and OSAKA, JAPAN – Newsaktuell – 13 October 2025 – After 184 days, the German Pavilion “Wa! Germany” at Expo 2025 in the Japanese city of Osaka has closed its doors. More than three million people from around the world visited the pavilion during this time, and it has now been recognised with two awards from the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) – the Sustainability Award and the Silver Award for Theme Development. Koelnmesse GmbH, commissioned by the Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE) to organise and operate the German Pavilion, reports a resounding success.

“The German Pavilion has demonstrated impressively how large-scale international projects made in Germany can captivate audiences worldwide,” said Gerald Böse, CEO of Koelnmesse GmbH. “The BIE’s awards are a special acknowledgement of the concept, the outstanding teamwork of all those involved – and clear proof that Koelnmesse continues to set benchmarks in international competition.”

Koelnmesse CEO Gerald Böse at the German Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. For more than three decades, Koelnmesse has organized and operated German Pavilions at World Expos held under the auspices of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs.

A flagship project for circular innovation

Under the theme “Shaping a Circular World Together”, the German Pavilion combined architecture, technology and emotion into an immersive experience. Visitors were able to explore how circular economy approaches, urban agriculture, hydrogen technologies and sustainable design can pave the way towards a sustainable future.

“Our aim was to present Germany as a land of innovation and as a driving force for a circular future,” explained Commissioner General Patrick Specht of Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. “That we were able to inspire more than three million visitors with our pavilion, and were additionally honoured with the Sustainability Award as well as the Silver Award for Theme Development, is a tremendous achievement. It shows how strongly our concept resonated with people.”

Both the concept and its implementation captivated audiences: in visitor surveys, more than 90 per cent of guests said their expectations had been exceeded. Many described the German contribution as one of the best at the Expo. Particularly popular was the pavilion mascot Circular, which Expo visitors voted as the most beloved mascot of the entire Expo.

Great recognition for the German Pavilion

Shortly before the Expo concluded, the German Pavilion team welcomed its three-millionth visitor. At the same time, the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) also honoured the German Pavilion with two awards: the Silver Award for Theme Development, which recognises pavilions that convey the Expo’s guiding theme in a particularly convincing, creative and coherent way, and the Sustainability Award, presented to the German Pavilion for its exemplary integration of sustainability both conceptually and in practice. This distinction places the project among Germany’s most successful Expo presentations to date.

“This achievement demonstrates what can be accomplished when creativity, engineering excellence and project management work hand in hand,” said Böse. “Expo 2025 showcased Germany as an open, innovative and sustainable partner within the global community – and we as Koelnmesse are proud to have played our part.”

An international collaborative effort

Commissioned by the BMWE, Koelnmesse once again delivered the German Pavilion – as it had done for several previous World Expos, most recently for Dubai 2020, Shanghai 2010 and Aichi 2005.The concept, planning and realisation this year were managed by the German Pavilion Expo 2025 Osaka Consortium, consisting of facts and fiction (concept and media design) and GL events Live (construction and implementation), with support from their Japanese subsidiary. Architectural design was provided by LAVA Architects (Berlin). The Culture Connect programme was curated by VOSS+FISCHER and Mike P. Heisel, while catering and retail operations were managed by 78degrees.
